About luv2bamom

Hello. We are a family of 5. Me, my  husband, and 3 boys. My husband lost his job a few months ago, and we have been struggling every since then. Some how we always manage to make it though. We are in a situation now that we're really in desperate need of help. We have gotten behind on our power bill and have no way of paying it. We recieved a shut off notice today, and it is due to be shut off on March 23rd. The amount that we owe is $465.00. The Salvation army said if we can come up with $365.00 they would pay the other $100.00. I have done everything I could and went everywhere trying to get help, only to keep getting turned away. Nobody will help us cause we have no income. If it was just me and my husband I wouldn't be so worried about it. We could live without power but our babies can not. We have not given up , we still have faith that something will come through and make it possible to pay our power bill. We are praying and asking everyone else to pray also. Thank you for taking the time to read this!!

My husband is disabled that is why he lost his job, he has back problems. He has already signed up on disablity but that can take up to 2 years. He has degenrative disc disease and Kyphosis. Both cause really bad pain. I can work, and have already signed up on work first but that also takes 45 days to be approved and still haven't found no job. The unemployment rate here is at a high 12%. The woman at the unemployment office said it hasn't been this high since the great depression. I don't know what we're going to do. Nobody will help you without income.

Reply to luv2bamom---Have you tried going to SNAP, that's what it's called here in Washington state, they help low to no income people out with their utilities, especially people that have recently become unemployed and they do not expect you to have any money to qualify. Call your community service center and they will give you all the info you need. You also said you were on medicaid, if your on medicaid have you reapplyed for financial help since your husband became unemployed and You Do Not have to have any income to apply or to qualify. The only reason you would be denied is if you had income coming in. Your husband would be required to attend the Work First program through which they train him with in the job training to become employed in a different field than he was in. As long as he attends the program and you both follow the requirements there is no reason for you to be denied. The Work First program has been very successful here in our state and welfare helps the whole family with money and food and childcare as long as it takes for them to become employed again and for up to a year after you go back to work. I wish you the best of luck and encourage you to reapply to social services. Sincerely Sheshe030
